Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the cancellation policy for the Arts Academy?

The full registration fee is due at the time of registration.  A full refund will be provided for any workshop that is canceled due to a minimum number of participants set by the instructor. If a participant needs to cancel up to two weeks prior to the workshop, a refund minus $25 will be returned. After two weeks prior to the workshop, refunds will be made minus a $50 fee for the instructors' preparation time. All registrations are transferable if a participant must cancel but finds another person for the workshop.

2. What is the recommended age of participants?

All workshops are recommended for ages over 16. Younger individuals who are interested in a workshop should contact the Arts Academy prior to registration and may be allowed at the discretion of the instructor.

3.  Do you have cell phone service in Highland County?

This is a rural county with limited cell phone coverage. Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint coverage in the town of Monterey.

4. Do I need to bring my own food? ​

Limited groceries are available in this area but we are an agricultural community with local raised beef, lamb, trout, and produce available. You will not want to leave without buying some of our famous maple syrup to take home with you. If you have special needs, it will be necessary for you to bring items with you. 5. How do I find lodging?

6. What supplies should I bring for my workshop?

While most supplies are provided, the instructors or a staff member will be in touch two weeks prior to your workshop with a complete list of additional supplies needed and/or the cost associated with supplies being provided for you.

7. What other activities can I enjoy while in Highland? 

Our county offers many free activities including cider tasting, forest bathing, bike rides, star gazing, bird watching, barn quilt tour, driving our scenic roads and more.  You can find a full list including links to local businesses and area activities at the Chamber of Commerce Website.
